Puritan Pleasure

36" x 48" Oil on board.

Hardly being your typical parody piece, "Puritan Pleasure" humorously rolls three painting periods into one. Mona Lisa retains her typical mysterious Renaissance smile, while being grappled by Grant Wood's dustbowl farmer seeking relief from the draught and laborious chores of the farm. In the window of the farmhouse, Munch's character screams in horror at the sight of these two infamous faces which seem to be delighting themselves and breaking away from their conventions. This piece was featured in the Denver Summit of the Eight in 1997.

  Death of a Prince

40" x 50" Acrylic, collage on board.

Poor Marat, not only did his skin ailment keep him from living a full life, but he was murdered in his own bathtub! Based on the famous painting The Death of Marat, this pulp parody embodies the strange fascination we have with pop culture. Not being able to cope with the horrific realization that Michael Jackson has reproduced, Marat takes his own life to ease his troubled mind.
